Hatching Chicks

Wednesday 12th March 2014

Senior infants have been learning all about the life cycle of a chick. On Wednesday Miss McKenna brought in a dozen eggs and an incubator. First we got the incubator ready by turning it on. Then we put an X on one side of the egg and an O on the opposite side. This is very important. For chicks to hatch the eggs have to be turned so that all parts of the egg gets heat. We are very lucky because our incubator turns our eggs for us. We know if the eggs have been turned depending on whether we can see a X or an O. Before we put the eggs into the incubator we checked the temperature and put water into the blue trays. We have to check the temperature, water and if the eggs have been turned twice a dayunnamed photo-31 unnamed (1)
