5th class have been learning about The Great Irish Famine for the past few weeks. We read “Under the Hawthorn Tree” in English and wrote diary entries from the main character, Eily’s, perspective. We created projects on various aspects of the famine from Coffin Ships to the Workhouse and Famine Memorials. The class created a Famine Village from clay during our art lessons.
